Big Game Bound: AFC, NFC champions to be crowned

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — By the end of Sunday, we’ll know which two teams are Big Game Bound.

Anthony “AC” Calhoun spoke to two reporters covering teams that are playing in conference championship games on Sunday night.

Dan Lucy has covered the Kansas City Chiefs for more than 30 years. Brian Holland has covered the New Orleans Saints for more than five seasons.

Waiting a lifetime for this

The Chiefs will be hosting the New England Patriots at Arrowhead Stadium to decide the AFC.

Lucy says fans and the organization have been waiting for the opportunity to have homefield advantage in the AFC Championship game.

“This is something the Kansas City fans and the franchise and the owners and the players have been waiting a lifetime for,” Lucy said. “They have never played in an AFC Championship game at home at Arrowhead Stadium.”

The teams will be facing frigid temperatures. It could be down to just 5° at kickoff.

The Pats bested the Chiefs in the regular season, winning 43-40 in week six.

‘Team of destiny’

It won’t be nearly as cold when the Saints host the Los Angeles Rams inside of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans on Sunday afternoon.

Holland says this season has had a special feel to it.

“This has felt like a team of destiny for the Saints fans,” Holland said.

These teams played earlier in the season. The Saints beat the Rams, winning 45-35 in week nine.
