Drivers get in final practice on Carb Day 2020, fans encouraged to celebrate virtually

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – It’s Carb Day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and it’s the last chance for drivers to practice before the 104th running of the Indy 500.

Normally, Carb Day is a big party at the track for race fans but this year is not like others. While fans will not be out at the track for Carb Day this year, IMS is still encouraging fans to be apart of the fun from the comfort of their home.

Officials at IMS are inviting fans to celebrate online. There is a full virtual “Miller Lite Carb Day” schedule and a series of social media hashtags to keep everyone connected throughout the day.

IMS officials want fans to use the hashtag #500atHome as well as using #500Fashion to show off your Carb Day outfit on social media.

Additionally, IMS is partnering with several radio stations like Sirus-XM’s IndyCarNation to bring listeners fresh commentary from former and curent Indy 500 drivers.

Starting at 9 a.m., Downtown Indy, Inc will host Urban Blend on Zoom and speak with Allison Melangton, senior vice president of events for Penske Entertainment Corp. The Zoom webinar will dive into her journey from the Super Bowl to the Speedway, her community-minded vision for events and the exciting road ahead, according to IMS.

From noon to 2 p.m., you can join in a virtual Pit Stop Challenge through IMS social media channels and watch highlights from the best previous challenges.
