Indiana teen competes in Drive Chip & Putt ahead of 2019 Masters

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A 14-year-old Indiana boy was given the opportunity to compete at one of the most prestigious golf courses in the country after qualifying for the Drive Chip & Putt competition.

Alec Cesare, 14, of Westfield, qualified as a finalist for the competition for the first time this year.

“It’s a dream come true, it’s a once in a lifetime experience,” said Alec Cesare.

Cesare was one of more than 80 young golfers participating in this year’s competition.

The sport has been growing in the state of Indiana.

“You look at golf overall and the numbers have kind of been stagnant over the last few years, but that’s not the case here in Indiana,” explained Mike David, executive director of Indiana Golf. “The future for us is really looking bright.”
