NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — The head boys soccer coach at St. Theodore Guerin High School died Wednesday after a battle with COVID-19, according to announcements from the school.

The Catholic school in October issued a prayer request for Chris McGrath after he’d been on a ventilator in an intensive care unit battling COVID.

The school’s president, Deacon Rick Wagner, announced McGrath’s death to the Guerin Catholic community on Wednesday. “The McGraths are members of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Westfield. We will share funeral arrangements when they are available,” the announcement said, following by a prayer.

McGrath is survived by his wife, Shari; two daughters, Emily and Julia, who are Guerin graduates; and a son, Ryan.

McGrath began coaching Guerin’s boys soccer in the 2017 season after being hired in 2016, according to the Hamilton County Reporter, a News 8 newsgathering partner.

The school has about 725 students in grades 9-12.
