IMS to add new road course race in October

SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) — A new race is coming to Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The INDYCAR Harvest GP will be a road course race on Oct. 3.

The Harvest GP joins the GMR Grand Prix, the Big Machine Vodka 400 at the Brickyard and the 104th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on the 2020 calendar.

“INDYCAR in October at IMS might bring slightly cooler weather but will definitely be warmly embraced by our fans,” IMS President J. Douglas Boles said in a statement. “Paired with the Indianapolis 8 Hour, we’re set for a can’t-miss fall weekend of motorsports at The Racing Capital of the World. We appreciate everyone’s support and flexibility as we continue to navigate calendar adjustments caused by the COVID-19 situation and extend our thanks to the GT World Challenge for embracing this new weekend schedule.”

Here is the 2020 race calendar at IMS:

  • July 4 – GMR Grand Prix
  • July 5 – Big Machine Vodka 400 at the Brickyard
  • Aug. 23 – 104th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge
  • Oct.3 – INDYCAR Harvest GP
