Colts TE Doyle suffers kidney injury, to miss rest of season

INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Colts tight end Jack Doyle will miss the rest of the season, coach Frank Reich said Monday.

Doyle suffered a kidney injury during Sunday’s victory over the Miami Dolphins at Lucas Oil Stadium. He remained in an Indianapolis-area hospital, where he was taken after the game. Reich said Doyle’s prognosis is good and he is expected to be released “soon.”

Doyle is expected to be placed on injured reserve, ending his season.

Doyle suffered the injury during the second half of Sunday’s 27-24 victory over the Dolphins, but was able to return to the game.

News 8’s Charlie Clifford via Twitter reported Reich said, “He is a really, really good football player. … In the passing game he will not take you lightly. Andrew (Luck) trusts him. He is a great player.”
