DONALDSON, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) — As it prepares to begin its first year under a new banner, Ancilla College of Marian University has a new leader. Joseph Heidt will serve as chancellor of the college, which was created last year as part of a collaboration between Ancilla College in Marshall County and Marian University in Indianapolis.
Heidt most recently served as an executive consultant for Shepherd Insurance. He also previously served as president and chief executive officer of Providence Cristo Rey High School in Indianapolis and a teacher and administrator at Archbishop Riordan High School in San Francisco.
Last August, Ancilla and Marian detailed their collaboration, bringing Ancilla College under the Marian umbrella. Marian President Dan Elsener says the college will operated under a shared infrastructure with Marian, but will maintain its own unique community.
“This collaboration between two Catholic institutions with a shared mission expands the future of Ancilla’s offerings,” Elsener said in a news release. “In Joseph Heidt, we have found the ideal person to spearhead the growth of Ancilla College of Marian University by developing a vision, creating a strategic plan, and forming connections with community organizations.”
The new Ancilla College of Marian University will begin operations in July.
BREMEN, Ind. (WISH) — A one-year-old child is in critical condition after being pulled out of a northern Indiana lake, Indiana Department of Natural Resources said.
Indiana conservation officers were called to the 4100 block of Lake Shore Drive Saturday night just after 8 p.m. on reports that a child was unresponsive after being found in Lake of the Woods in Marshall County.
Officers learned that family members were ending a birthday party when they noticed a back door to the home was open and the one-year-old child was missing.
Family members found the child floating in 18 inches of water nearby. Authorities say the child was missing for five to 10 minutes.
The child was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center and is in critical condition.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
