Mother’s Day turned out fairly pleasant weatherwise as most areas stayed dry. But the chances for showers returns tonight and continues into Monday morning.

Tonight – Showers and possible storms after 8:00 PM. Rain off and on through the night. Low 53

Monday – Still a chance for showers in the morning but drying out by afternoon. High only 72.

Tuesday – Another weather system moves quickly through Indiana. So another chance for showers Tuesday morning into the afternoon. Ending by evening. High 73

While most of Central Indiana had a dry Mother’s Day, more showers are moving in tonight. Sunday evening, the showers around Lafayette are moving southeast at about 30 MPH. Other showers and storms in Illinois are moving east at about 30 MPH.
After we see off and on showers Sunday night into Monday morning, FutureCast shows our weather should be drying out by Monday afternoon.
Clouds and a northeast wind will keep our temperatures pleasantly cool on Monday.

We are locked into an unsettled weather pattern that will bring us periods of showers and thunderstorm for the next 36 hours. The next round of rain and storms will move in from the southwest this evening, Some storms could be strong with frequesnt lightning, gusty wind and heavy rain.

Tuesday – Weather pattern finally dries out. Just a chance for a lingering shower in the morning. Otherwise dry and warm. High 74

Temperatures continue above the normal of 72 for the week ahead. Another period of occasional showers starts late Friday and extends into next weekend.

Sunday evening another round of showers and thunderstorms are ready to move through Central and Southern Indiana. They could have the lightning, heavy rains and gusty winds like we experienced Saturday night.
The storms are moving East at 30 MPH so expect the showers and thunderstorms to arrive in Indy area by 9 PM.
St the storms continue to move East, they will be out of Central Indiana by 3 AM Monday morning. The break in storms will not last as more showers and storms are possible later Monday into Monday night.
The warm, humid air and several low pressure areas in the Midwest will mean our weather will remain unsettled until Tuesday afternoon.

MONDAY…

It was 34 Sunday morning and it will be even colder Monday morning. Low temperature about 32 in Indy and possibly colder in outlying areas. Grab the heavier coat on the way to work or school Monday morning. With a little sun it will warm up a bit by Monday afternoon with a warming trend the next several days.

Tonight – Partial clearing. Low 32

Monday – Very cold start, but a little warmer by afternoon. High 56.

Tuesday – Warming trend continues. A chance for some isolated afternoon rain showers. Low of 36, High 61.

Wednesday – Partly cloudy and finally back to near normal late April temperatures. Low 41. High 62.

Extended Outlook (Thu-Mon) – Continued gradual warming trend through Saturday. Another cold front brings the chance for showers next weekend and leads to cooler temperatures again Sunday and Monday.

On average, the last day the temperature gets down to 32 is April 15. But that is where we are headed tonight. Maybe a good time to cover , or bring inside, any sensitive plants that are outside.
While it stayed cloudy and cold all weekend, those high pressure areas out west should begin to clear the skies and let some sunshine in to start the week.

Spring arrives at 5:54pm but it will still feel winterlike to start the day. Morning temperatures in the 20s. Winter coats are needed on the way to work or school Monday morning. However, sunshine through the day will help us reach 50 by Monday afternoon.

Tuesday

Sunny skies and not so cold with temperatures in the upper 30s to start the day. Then warning up to about 55 Tuesday afternoon. As the day goes along there will be in increase in clouds in advance of some rain moving in Tuesday night.

Wednesday

Morning showers are possible and should be ending. Then a high near 58 in the afternoon.

Some snow that we received last night has melted. Nice to see the green grass again.
Here is the overall picture. Clouds and precipitation that were around here the past few days have now moved East. High pressure in the nation’s midsection will give us a couple of dry days with sunshine. That will bring a warming trend to above normal temperatures by Tuesday.
We are finishing off the winter season with this afternoon’s chilly temperatures getting cold again by Monday morning.
By the time Spring officially arives Monday afernoon temperatures will be almost back to normal.
