Nashville NFL Draft expected to be best in history

As more and more details come out the excitement over the NFL Draft is building in Music City.

City leaders say they plan to top all of the other past drafts.

No other NFL Draft has integrated free live music to the degree that will be included in the Nashville Draft.

More than 20 Nashville-based acts from a wide range of genres including; country, rock, pop, Americana and blues, are scheduled to play during the three days of activities on the draft main stage and at the NFL Draft Experience outside of Nissan Stadium including; Dierks Bentley, Tim McGraw, Charles Esten and Mikky Ekko.

Butch Spyridon with the Nashville Convention and Visitors Corporation says the music element is one of the reasons why the Nashville Draft will be the best in yet.

“Philly, Dallas, Chicago, New York have all done a great job, but more either local or regional from a fan base. We think we have a chance to really draw from as far as Saints of New Orleans, Falcons, Bengals, Colts so we think we can do really well and turn it into a real destination event. One of the reasons, you know, they see the entertainment value of Nashville and using the star power, using lower Broad which is a huge destination every weekend makes it more appealing, there is more to do,” said Spyridon.

News 2 asked NFL legend, Eddie George, what it means to have the draft in Nashville from a player’s perspective.

“From a player’s perspective, it could be on Mars, it really doesn’t matter where it is. You’re really just looking at a time where you are celebrating coming into the NFL fulfilling a childhood dream for many. It could be life changing for some. It’s a wonderful time to just reflect back and to share with your family what you had to go through to accomplish this and it’s always this, it’s not the end it’s only the beginning,” George explained.

Additional details and performances on the NFL Draft are expected in the coming weeks.
