Say what? Attorney requests court case delay due to Final Four

LUBBOCK, Texas — A Lubbock attorney, Tray Payne, requested that the start of court case be delayed due to a highly-technical legal circumstance called Final Four.  Final Four is a legal condition wherein the client’s attorney is attending the Texas Tech vs. Michigan State game in the NCAA Final Four.

“This motion is filed in accordance with Article 29.03 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure,” the motion said.

It also said, “Counsel for Defendant has been a Texas Tech Red Raider basketball fan for 44 … years.  As such, Counsel for Defendant was avidly watching a basketball game on 3-30-2019 between his Red Raiders and the Gonzaga Bulldogs when suddenly the final buzzer sounded, and the Red Raiders had won the game.”

EverythingLubbock.com independently confirmed the claims of the attorney in the court record.  The Red Raiders did win the Gonzaga game by a score of 75 – 69.

“Upon seeing the final score, Counsel for Defendant was compelled, through no fault of his own, to hit the ‘order’ button on airline tickets to Minneapolis, Minnesota,” the motion said.

“Counsel for Defendant will be forced and compelled to attend,” the motion said.  That’s a reference to the Saturday tip off time of 7:49 pm (central) when Tech plays Michigan State – a game that will be televised on CBS (KLBK).

“The first game will occur on 4-6-2019 where the Red Raiders will destroy the Michigan State Spartans, and then again on 4-8-2019, wherein the beloved Raiders will compete to be the National Champions.”

EverythingLubbock.com has not yet independently confirmed that Tech will “destroy” the Spartans, but we certainly have high hopes.

The judge of County Court at Law Number Two has not yet ruled.  Unless delayed, the court case would be on Tuesday.  The national championship game is Monday night.
