A Winter Weather Advisory later Wednesday

Wednesday’s weather forecast

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – It could be a slick start for outlying communities from the overnight. Otherwise, we should see a lull in activities through the rest of the morning and early afternoon. Highs will slowly warm to the lower to mid-30s.

Later Wednesday afternoon a second winter system will move in with freezing rain, sleet and snow. This has promoted a Winter Weather Advisory that will start at 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon and will go until 10 a.m. Thursday. Snow accumulation looks to stay north of Indy. Spots in northern counties could pick up 2″-4″ of snow. There will be a narrow band of 1″-2″ of snow just north of the city, while Indy mainly picks up a quarter of an inch of ice. A wintry mix will continue overnight with lows in the upper 20s.

Thursday morning looks for a stray mix or flurry. A better chance of scattered light snow through the afternoon and evening with highs in the lower 30s. Flurries will continue Friday with minor accumulations by the end of the day with most spots under and inch of additional accumulation.

This weekend we could see a few flurries Saturday with minor accumulations. Highs will warm to the upper 30s. Better day Sunday with highs in the lower 40s with sun and clouds. Rain to start the work week next.
