First snow of the season ahead

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — We ended the workweek on a chilly and windy note as cloud cover increased throughout the day. Wind gusts at times exceeded 40 mph across central Indiana. We look to see our first snowflakes of the season in the near term.

Friday night: Prepare for a windy and cold night under cloudy skies. A stray rain, or even snow, shower cannot be ruled out after sunset. Better precipitation chances will stay north of interstate 70.

Lows will bottom out in the upper 20s to low 30s.

Saturday: Skies will remain mostly cloudy for a majority of our Saturday. Breezy winds will linger around the area, making it feel more colder than the actual air temperature. A patch of rain and snow showers are possible after midnight Saturday.

Highs will struggle to get out of the 30s for some locations.

Sunday: Expect a mainly cloudy Sunday across the state. There is the chance for on-and-off isolated rain and snow showers throughout the day.

Highs will top out in the low to mid 40s.

8-Day Forecast: The cold weather pattern continues to begin the new workweek next week. We will rebound rather quickly going into midweek with highs jumping into the mid 50s. This fast warmup will lead way to the return of rain chances on Wednesday.
