Near-record low temperatures for Friday night
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — We had a chilly Friday across the state with morning rain showers. Colder air will sink in Friday night, leading the way for potential record low temperatures Friday night.
Friday night:
A Freeze Warning will be in effect for all of central Indiana from midnight to 9 a.m. Saturday.
Expect a very cold and mainly clear night as our temperatures will drop below freezing. Areas of patchy frost will develop, so you will need to cover up sensitive vegetation to prevent frost damage.
Lows will bottom out in the upper 20s. Our record low for this date is 29°, set back in 1947. The all-time record low for May is 28°, set back in 1966.
Saturday:
We will have a very cold start to your Saturday with widespread frost before sunrise. Your Saturday afternoon will feature a slight warm up under mostly sunny skies. Clouds look to build in Saturday night ahead of our next chance for rain.
Highs only top out in the mid 50s.
Sunday:
We will have a dry start before sunrise to Mother’s Day, but expect rain chances to quickly increase throughout the day. Widespread showers are likely during the afternoon hours with our warming trend continuing. Winds will pick up becoming breezy in the afternoon hours as well.
Highs will rise into the upper 50s.
8 Day Forecast:
The workweek will start off cool and dry for your Monday, with highs in the mid to upper 50s. We are tracking several rain chances from Tuesday through Thursday night with isolated thunderstorms possible on Thursday. Enjoy a much warmer end to the workweek with high temperatures climbing back into the 70s.
