Sunshine returns with near record temperatures

Sunday morning forecast

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An early taste of Spring will invade central Indiana for the next couple of days. Active weather pattern sets up mid week.

Today:

Dry air settles in over the region leaving us mostly clear this morning, and this trend will continue for the rest of the day. This finally gives us our first round of all day sunshine in well over a week! In addition, warmer air surging into the region will allow for temperatures to push near 60° this afternoon. Today’s record high is 61°.

Tonight:

Clear and quiet conditions overnight, with cool, but not too chilly of temperatures. Lows fall to around 40°

Monday:

Another very mild day to kick off the work week. Expect sunshine for the morning, with a gradual increase in cloud cover through the day. Highs top out in the middle to upper 50s.

Active weather pattern:

Big changes ahead starting Tuesday, as rain fill in across the area. Temperatures should hover in the middle 50s Tuesday afternoon. Colder air will slowly leak down from the north Tuesday night, and by Wednesday, our highs will struggle to get out of the 30s. Additional waves moving through Wednesday and Thursday likely bring a chance for snow, with even a mixing chance of sleet and freezing rain at times. Scattered snow showers will wind down the work week on Friday, as temperatures settle back in to the middle 30s.

8 day forecast:

Our mild stretch will be short lived after Tuesday afternoon, as temperatures return to near normal. Long term pattern past the extended calls for at to slightly above average temperatures.
