Active pattern ahead

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Cloud cover rolled in ahead of schedule throughout our Thursday with slow moving showers and storms impacting western Indiana in the afternoon hours. This is the beginning to what will be a streak of rain and storm chances for several days.

Thursday night: A Flash Flood Watch is in effect until 8 AM EDT Saturday morning for a good chunk of northern Indiana.

Rain and isolated storms will continue to be possible past sunset. Additional activity looks to slide into the state as we get closer to sunrise Friday.

Lows will only fall into the upper 60s to low 70s in what will be a warm and muggy night.

Friday: Have the rain gear handy as showers and storms will be on and off throughout the day.

There is the chance for isolated strong to severe storms across much of the state. The main threats are isolated damaging winds and hail, but an isolated tornado is not out of the question. Heavy rainfall will be a threat with any thunderstorm, which will lead to growing flooding concerns.

Highs will be near average as we look to top out in the low to mid 80s.

Weekend: A wet weekend will be the story for the northwestern quarter of the state, hence why flash flood watches are in place there. On and off rain and storms with heavy rain will be likely for both Saturday and Sunday for the aforementioned area. Here in Indianapolis, rain coverage will be on the scattered side for Saturday with more isolated coverage for Sunday. Highs will linger around in the mid 80s for what will also be a very warm weekend.

8 Day Forecast: Daily chances for rain and storms are in place throughout the extended forecast. With numerous rain chances in place, flooding will continue to be a concern. A very slow cooldown will work into our area beginning next Tuesday. We will begin July next Thursday with below average temperatures and possible rain showers.
