Cold end to the weekend; warmer days ahead this week

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Another day of below normal temperatures for our Sunday.  We’ll see our temperatures rise later in the work week.

Today:

Still clouds hanging arond much of the state this morning – thanks to a potent winter system that is thankfully staying well to our south.  We should start to see much, but not all of the cloud oover mix out later this morning.  Highs top out in the middle to upper 30s.

Tonight:

Clear, cold and quiet conditions overnight.  Lows fall to the middle to upper teens.

Monday:

Quiet start to the work week.  Expect much more in the way of sunshine.  Highs hit the middle 30s.

8 day forecast:

Our quiet weather pattern will continue into Wednesday morning.  A couple of upper level waves will take aim on the Midwest for the back half of the extended forecast.  Look for some isolated rain showers to move in Wednesday afternoon and evening.  After that, some big difference in the track of our second wave from the European model to the American model.  Once has it completely south, while the other has a direct impact over central Indiana, keeping us soggy with rain for Friday into Saturday.  Something to watch for as we get close to the end of the week.

Meanwhile, temperatures still look to be on track to warm closer to average by mid week, with highs back into the 40s starting Wednesday.  Longer range models hint at even warmer air heading into the week before Christmas.
