Fall like weekend ahead

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — We are continuing to track shower and storm chances for our Friday night before we transition into a chilly weekend.

Friday night: Additional rain and storms are likely after sunset before coverage slowly tapers off through the overnight hours.

Isolated strong to severe storms are also possible through the early evening hours. Damaging winds will be the primary threat, but hail and a brief tornado or two are also possible. Flooding will continue to be a concern.

As this system gradually moves out of the state, much cooler air will swing in behind it. This will lead way for a chilly and breezy start to our Saturday with lows falling into the mid to upper 40s.

Saturday: If you are a fan of fall weather, your patience with waiting for comfortable and cool air will pay off. Enjoy a chilly and breezy Saturday with plenty of sunshine. Be sure to get out the sweaters and pants before you head out for any outdoor plans. Highs will struggle to reach the 60° mark for some locations.

Sunday: The fantastic weather trend will continue into our Sunday with near average temperatures and abundant sunshine. Highs will rise into the mid 60s.

8-Day Forecast: After a cooler weekend, slightly warmer air arrives next week. Expect high temperatures in the low 70s for much of next week. We’ll track the return of showers and thunderstorms Wednesday through the end of the week.
