First accumulating snow of the season likely over the next 48 hours

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Good Sunday evening, everyone! We’ve enjoyed a cold but dry weekend. Highs today topped out a bit warmer than yesterday, peaking in the low to mid 40s.

This evening, expect increasing clouds and a few stray rain/snow showers late.

Through the overnight, snow showers will start to slide in, especially in our northernmost communities.

Temperatures will slowly slide into the upper 20s by daybreak Monday.

Outside of a stray snow shower here or there, expect a decent morning drive. Can’t rule out an isolated slick spot or two, but there should be no major travel disruptions.

Even with an abundance of cloud cover, temperatures tomorrow afternoon will top out in the upper 30s and low 40s, warm enough to change some showers to a rain snow mix.

More widespread wintry weather will slide in late Monday and continue into early Tuesday morning. This is where we will see our best chance for accumulating snow.

Overall, this will be a LOW-IMPACT winter storm, just enough to make things look wintry outside. Some elevated surfaces or vehicles might see light accumulation, but it won’t slow things down all that much.

By early Tuesday, most of us will see less than 1” of snow, though an isolated pocket or two of slightly heavier amounts isn’t impossible.

Early Tuesday, snow showers will slide out.

We will clear out entirely Tuesday evening.

Temperatures will remain well below average through the rest of the 8-day forecast with another storm system poised to bring more accumulating snow chances our way towards the second half of the work week.

We’ll see a few minor ups and downs temperature wise, but the overall theme the next 8 days will be the continuance of our frigid, snowy November.
