First measurable snowfall of the season possible Monday into Tuesday

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Good Saturday evening, everyone! After a bitter cold start to the weekend, we managed to top out in the mid 40s in most areas this afternoon.

With mostly clear skies tonight, temperatures will sink quickly into the mid 20s by midnight and the low 20s by Sunday morning.

If you’re headed out to the Colts game tomorrow, especially tailgating, find a warm grill to stand next to with the cold start to Sunday. Expect a closed roof Sunday due to nothing more than cold temps.

High temperatures will slowly climb into the low to mid 40s tomorrow afternoon with a mix of sun and clouds.

A few flurries are possible late Sunday into daybreak Monday, though better snow chances will move back in late Monday. High temps Monday will climb only into the low 40s.

Late Monday evening, our next weathermaker will slide our way, bringing scattered snow showers in just before midnight. The snow showers will continue through the first half of Tuesday before clearing out late Tuesday.

This has the potential to be our first accumulating snow of the year with most areas set to pick up at least a dusting. Some areas will pick up close to 1” or more of snow with a few isolated communities seeing a bit more than that.

With that said, the impacts from this system will be minimal. We could see a few slick spots for the Tuesday morning drive, but that’s about it. Don’t expect closed schools or major traffic delays.

After the early work week storm, we’ll dry out and cool down through mid-week.

We’ll remain dry for the remainder of the work week with another slim chance for a wintry mix or light snow by next weekend. Stay warm!
