Frigid start to the week; Brief warm up ahead

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Temperatures Monday morning will remain bitterly cold and in the single digits until later in the afternoon. In the metro area, temps will break into the upper teens by Monday evening and sit at 18°. 

Overnight, cloud coverage will build back in with lows near 12°.

Above average temperatures return Tuesday, bringing us back to 40° for a brief period. Near freezing temeratures will follow overnight Tuesday. Rain showers will spread in late in the day and through the overnight with periods of light to moderate rain. Scattered showers will start off the morning on Wednesday eventually transitioning to a wintry mix including ice, sleet and some light snow. 

A rickety temperature pattern will remain in place for the rest of the week as we swing to above average temperatures until Wednesday and then fall to below average temperatures for the rest of the week.
