Heat and humidity returns, severe storms possible

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH)– After a pleasant weekend, the heat and humidity returns, along with strong storm chances.

Good Monday evening! We made it into the low 90s today across a large portion of the state. Temperatures will remain warm for the majority of the work week.

TONIGHT:

A beautiful evening is on tap with generally calm and dry conditions expected. Temperatures will remain on the warm side and in the low 80s by 9 pm.

Low temperatures will bottom out in the low 70s

TOMORROW:

As you are heading to work tomorrow morning, make sure to pack the rain gear as there is a chance for a very isolated shower or thunderstorm. We’ll start out very mild with temperatures in the mid 70s near 8 am.

A cold front will work its way through the area tomorrow during the early afternoon and evening hours. It will bring with it a better chance for showers and thunderstorms, some of which could be strong to severe.

The Storm Prediction Center has the Indianapolis metro and areas eastward outlined in a marginal risk of strong to severe storms. While the overall threat does not look very impressive, there could be a few cells that become strong. Make sure to keep the WISH-TV app handy for any severe weather alerts. Damaging winds and hail are the primary threats.

High temperatures will top out in the upper 80s to near 90°

MID-WEEK:

Rain chances look few and far between for the middle of the week. By the weekend, though, scattered showers and storms could give us some needed rain.

The humidity will return to a more comfortable level by Wednesday before increasing into the weekend ahead of our next weather maker.

EXTENDED FORECAST:

Most of the week should remain dry and very warm with Tuesday holding our best shot of rain and stronger storms. By the weekend, rain chances return along with temperatures near the 90° mark.
