Hot temps hang tough the next few days
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Our late season heat streak continues for the middle of the work week.
Tonight:
Some isolated downpours have developed during the afternoon hours. As we head into the evening, expect rain chances to diminish quickly. Many areas will remain dry during this short window.
Skies should clear out quickly by mid/late evening. A few areas of fog could be possible deep into the overnight, but we don’t expect this to be a widespread issue.
Overnight lows fall to around 70°
Wednesday:
Another round of high heat and humidity, with highs topping out in the upper 80s to around 90°
Like today, a few spotty showers and storms will be possible – all fueled by daytime heating, so a tight window from mid/late afternoon through mid evening for any rain chances. Like the past few days, most areas will remain dry.
Thursday:
Should be the hottest day of the week area wide – with 90° temps forecasted across the region. “Feels Like” temps should be in the middle to upper 90s.
A spotty afternoon storm will also be possible.
8-day forecast
Pattern change comes in on Friday. Cold front will sag through the state, sparking scattered to numerous showers and storms around the area.
That boundary will stall out around/south of the Ohio River, leaving us with a shot for rain both days this weekend – as it appears now, the best chances for rain look to be in the southern third of the state, but that could change as we get closer and get a better understanding. Still a lot of questions, but at no point does the weekend appear to be a washout.
What does remain clear is the significantly cooler temperatures on tap following our Friday Some models suggesting highs only in the upper 60s for Saturday, while others go as high as the mid 70s – so we’ll split the difference. Regardless, a much more refreshing feel for the first weekend of fall.
Temperatures should remain near “seasonal” levels to open up the work week, with highs in the middle and upper 70s. Several rain chances will be around for the first half of the work week.
