Icy Thursday morning with warmer weather next week

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Good Thursday morning, everyone! We’re dealing with an icy morning commute as a wintry mix of rain, freezing rain, sleet and snow is sliding through.

Untreated streets, elevated surfaces, sidewalks and parking lots are likely coated in an icy glaze made up of freezing rain and sleet. Be overly cautious as you head out and hit the roads.

An Ice Storm WARNING for many is in place until 12 PM with a Winter Weather Advisory set to expire at 7 PM for all.

We’ll hold on to a wintry mix through late morning with most seeing sleet and freezing rain (pink). More of our western and northwestern communities will see snow earlier, leading to higher totals. Our southernmost communities, will likely see more rain than anything.

Temperatures will be slow to climb this afternoon with most areas only reaching the mid 30s.

By late this afternoon and evening, the wintry mix will change to scattered snow showers, not accumulating all that much here in central Indiana.

By the early overnight, skies will clear and temps will plummet into the mid 20s. Re-freezing could be an isolated issue on area roadways Friday morning.

Our Friday will be less intense with mostly cloudy skies and slightly warmer temps.

Highs tomorrow will climb into the low to mid 40s.

While there will not be a lot of wintry weather to close out the work week, it will be fairly gloomy with mostly cloudy skies for most of the day.

High school football semi-state matchups will be cold and cloudy. Bundle up!

The weekend looks nice ahead of Thanksgiving week. Just a slim chance for more wintry weather, especially Sunday. Next week looks much more uneventful with a gradual warming trend. The Thanksgiving holiday looks great with high temps in the mid 50s under mostly sunny skies.
