Light snow expected Monday night

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Another round of snow could leave lighter accumulations for parts of the area overnight.

Monday night:

A system moving through the Midwest will bring rain for portions of the area during the evening hours, and transition to all snow from northwest to southeast. Snowfall should be relatively light for those who see snow. We’ll likely wrap up the snow chances a few hours before the Tuesday morning commute.

Total accumulation should be less than 1″ for a majority of the area. Some areas north of a Lafayette/Tipton/Marion line and points north could be closer to 1″ or slightly higher.

While this shouldn’t cause major travel problems, there will be slick spots in the morning, so do please travel with caution Tuesday morning.

Overnight lows are expected to fall to the middle 20s.

Tuesday:

With the exception of a few morning flurries, we should be in for a quiet but cold day. Highs top out in the lower to middle 30s.

Wednesday:

Sunshine with well below average temps, while highs will hit the middle 30s.

8 day forecast:

The next system of interest will be Thursday, as a system moves in bringing a rain/snow mix, followed by snow showers for much of the day. Timing is still a bit up in the air, but we could again see some light accumulation from this system. Check back for updates.

With the exception of Saturday flurries, the rest of the extended is relatively quiet and chilly. Temps will remain 10-15° below average well into the holiday week.
