More rain and a few strong storms likely today

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Good Thursday Morning, everyone! After a wet and stormy Wednesday, we have another round of rain and potentially a few strong storms to get through today.

Most areas saw at least a bit of measurable rainfall yesterday, whereas some areas saw quite a bit. Shelbyville picked up over an inch and a quarter yesterday.

We’ll see similar rain chances today, so send the kids off to school with an umbrella and take a poncho for yourself as you head out the door this morning.

There are already a few rain showers and storms out there this morning, but the rain will likely become a bit more widespread this afternoon.

Some storms could be on the strong side with damaging wind being the primary possibility. A MARGINAL RISK is in place for most of the area.

Temperatures will only climb into the upper 70s and low 80s in most areas due to the abundance of rain and cloud cover.

We will calm down a bit tonight with temps slowly sinking into the mid 70s just before midnight.

Overnight lows will eventually tumble into the upper 60s by daybreak Friday.

We have at least one more round of scattered storms to get through Friday afternoon before things calm down for the weekend.

Highs will top out in the low 80s as we close out the work week.

By the time rain pushes out for good Friday night, most areas will see at least some additional rain, though some areas could see over an inch or more.

Rain chances look to fall off through the weekend before another potent storm system arrives by early next week.

Strong storms are possible next Monday into Tuesday. That storm system will be a big catalyst for a cool down through the second half of next week with highs in the mid to upper 70s next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday!
