Rain returns late tonight with above average temps lingering through the weekend

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Happy Friday, everyone! The holiday shopping season is off to a clear and chilly start.

Temps in the low 30s this morning will climb into the low 50s this afternoon with the help of a southerly wind up to 15-25 mph at times.

Clouds will build in by the afternoon hours, but rain looks to hold off until dinner time in most areas.

Temps will slowly sink into the upper 40s just before midnight which will be right about the same time we start to see our best rain chances from weathermaker #1.

Rain will continue through most of the overnight and we’ll bottom out in the mid 40s, very mild for this time of year.

Just after daybreak Saturday rain looks to wrap up, which is good news if you’re heading to Bloomington for the Old Oaken Bucket game at noon.

The remainder of the day looks partly to mostly cloudy with highs in the mid 50s.

Clouds build back in Sunday morning just ahead of weathermaker #2. If you’re headed to Lucas Oil Stadium for the Colts v. Dolphins game, you’ll remain dry inside and out before better rain chances return Sunday evening.

That rain will change to a wintry mix Sunday night into Monday with little to no accumulation.

The most noticeable thing will be the sharp temperature drop into next week. After topping out in the mid 50s this weekend, we’ll be about 20-30° colder next work week.

We look to stay dry and cold Tuesday through Thursday with another round of wintry weather possible towards the tail end of next week.
