Stormy Thursday on the way with strong to severe storms possible

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Good Thursday morning! We’re off to a muggy, mild and soon to be stormy start to the home stretch of the work week. Temps are in the 70s in many areas this morning and that heat and moisture will go on to fuel strong storms this afternoon. Take the rain gear with you as you head out the door!

Storms look to arrive in the metro as early as daybreak with continued rain and storm threats through most of the day.

A Marginal Risk is in place for severe storms today, meaning that isolated strong to severe storms are possible with threats for damaging winds, hail and an isolated tornado or two.

Temperatures, with a continued south wind, will top out in the mid to upper 70s in most areas despite the rain and storms.

We’ll catch a break in the stormy weather late this evening before more rain moves in early Friday. Some storms early Friday could also be strong to severe.

Late Friday afternoon and evening, our storm threat will start to diminish. Highs will top out in the mid 70s for most to close out the work week.

The Indy Mini is this Saturday and the forecast looks great with partly to mostly cloudy skies and temperatures ranging from the mid 50s by the start of the race and upper 60s by the time runners begin to finish.

We’ll top out in the upper 70s Saturday with partly to mostly cloudy skies before rain chances return Sunday.

We’ll hold on to a minimum of isolated rain chances through next work week with temperatures right around or above average through this time next week.
