Strong to severe storms possible both Saturday and Mother’s Day Sunday

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Happy Friday, everyone! We’re off to a mostly clear and comfy start this Friday morning, outside of a few isolated rain showers. We’re in the upper 50s and low 60s to start the day.

Temperatures will climb into the mid 70s if not the lower 80s by lunchtime, but it will be breezy again, so if you’re planning on eating outside, just hold on to your napkin!

Most areas will top out in the mid 80s this afternoon with a few warmer spots to the south of the metro.

With that sort of heat, we are expecting a few showers and storms to develop this afternoon which will linger into the early evening. Just keep an eye on the skies if you’re headed out tonight.

We’ll clear out through the overnight and temps will drop into the mid to upper 60s by daybreak Saturday.

A few storms are possible by dinnertime Saturday, some of which could be on the strong side.

A SLIGHT Risk for severe storms is in place for the northern half of the state with threats for damaging wind and hail. Stay weather aware Mother’s Day Sunday as well with a MARGINAL Risk in place.

Those are just the next 2 rain opportunities in what will be a very wet and stormy week next week. We’ll see a good chance for rain and storms each day until next Friday.

Highs will remain well above average through the next 7 days until we finally get some relief from the heat by this time next week.
