Sunny Saturday followed by soggy Sunday

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH)–Lots of sunshine is expected today with rain developing later tonight.

TODAY: A Frost Advisory remains in place until 10 a.m. across much of central and northern Indiana.

Temperatures will start out in the 30s for most spots but we’ll quickly climb into the afternoon. Look for lots of sunshine during the first part of the day. Clouds should begin to increase later this afternoon. A few spotty showers are expected to develop late in the afternoon but heavier rain arrives later tonight. Highs will climb near 60.

TONIGHT: Moderate to heavy rain begins across much of the state. We may even hear a few claps of thunder. Rain is likely to continue throughout the overnight hours with lows falling into the middle 40s.

SUNDAY: We’re in store for a soggy Mother’s Day. Showers and even a few thunderstorms will start out the day. Rain continues through about the middle of the day and finally begins to taper off by late afternoon. Rainfall amounts may reach 1-2 inches across parts of the state. Highs should stay well below our normal high of 71 with temperatures climbing into the upper 50s for the afternoon.

SUNDAY NIGHT: Rain comes to an end but the clouds stick around Sunday night. It will be chilly with lows falling into the upper 30s and lower 40s.

MONDAY: We’ll see a dry start to the new workweek. Look for partly cloudy skies with highs in the upper 50s.

8DAY FORECAST: Temperatures will continue to stay below normal for the rest of the week. They should slowly climb closer to normal for the end of the week and into next weekend. Much of the week will be dry with lots of sunshine. However, there’s a chance for a few showers on Thursday.
