Windy Saturday, with rain for some

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Winds could gust up to 40mph at times Saturday afternoon.

Tonight:

Frontal system pushes through the area this evening, continuing the light showers around the area.  Rain chances should come to an end near Midnight.

Mostly cloudy conditions continue into the overnight.  Temperatures shouldn’t be as chilly, falling to the middle to upper 40s.

Saturday:

Main headlines will be the winds.  After cloudy and dry start to the morning, winds begin to pick up in the afternoon.  Gusts could reach as high as 40 mph at times, Winds should quickly diminish later in the evening hours.

Second headline for Saturday will be rain chances, as an upper level wave moves through the state.  We should see showers moving through the northern third, to possibly northern half of the state for the early to middle portions of the afternoon.  Rain will be a quick hitter for most, and will exit close to dinner time.

Models also suggest to the potential for a few sleet pellets or snowflakes to mix in with the rain as the system pulls away.  Certainly will be possible for some of our far northeastern counties, but will quickly shut down by mid evening.

Highs hit the upper 50s Saturday afternoon.

Sunday:

Quiet, but much colder day on tap.  Plenty of sun with highs in the upper 40s and lower 50s.

8 day forecast:

Temperatures should boost back to near 60° Monday and Tuesday, with a slight fall back into the middle 50s Wednesday and Thursday.  Slight rain chances return to the forecast for Friday and Saturday.
