Wintry mix for some tonight; colder start Sunday morning

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Strong winds and scattered showers give way to near freezing temperatures overnight.

Tonight:

Upper level disturbance working through the Midwest will help to squeeze out showers across portions of central Indiana.  As temperatures cool tonight, we’ll  likely see some snow and/or sleet mixing in with rain for the northern half of the state, before precipitation ends just after Midnight.

Winds have been a big story this afternoon, and will remain strong through late tonight.  A Wind Advisory remains in effect until 10pm across the entire state.  Winds should quickly diminish overnight.

Skies will clear overnight, allowing for a big drop off in temperatures.  A Freeze Warning will be in effect tonight through 10am Sunday for our southern counties, as overnight lows fall to around 30°.

Sunday:

After temperatures rise above freezing mid morning, we should be in for a quiet, but cooler day.  Lots of sunshine with highs near 50°.

8 day forecast:

Quiet weather pattern for the majority of the work week, with a slight tick in temperatures Monday and Tuesday, with highs in the upper 50s.  Temperatures fall back to the middle 50s Wednesday through Friday, with rain chances returning to start off next weekend.
