CHESTERFIELD, Ind. (WISH) — A suspect is in custody after a male was stabbed Thursday night in this small Madison County town of 2,400 people, Chesterfield police said.

Police were sent about 9 p.m. to the 2400 block of Anderson Road. That’s east of Anderson Municipal Airport off State Road 32. 

The male was stabbed five times in the back. He was taken to St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital. His condition and name were not immediately available. 

Police had been searching for Troy Neal, who fled the area in a silver 2007 Dodge Dakota pickup. He was caught in Delaware County. 

Police said the stabbing was an isolated incident. The victim and Neal were acquaintances.

CHESTERFIELD, Ind. (WISH) — A man is facing serious charges following a shooting Monday night that left one woman dead and a man injured.

32-year-old Agapito Diaz III faces charges of murder, attempted armed robbery, possession of a handgun by a serious violent felon and criminal recklessness in connection to the crime.

Another suspect, 24-year-old Joshua Steele, faces charges of possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, carrying a handgun without a license and possession of marijuana, in connection to the shooting.

Jalynn Harman, 20, died as a result of the shooting.

The incident also left a man in critical condition.

CHESTERFIELD, Ind. (WISH) — A woman was dead and police have a suspect in custody after a double shooting Monday night on the town’s south side, police said.

Jalynn N. Harman, 20, of Muncie, died at St. Vincent Indianapolis hospital, said Madison County Sheriff Scott Mellinger in an email. The other victim, a man, was is in critical condition.

Officers were dispatched about 7:10 p.m. to sounds of gunfire at a home near the intersection of Pass and Mulberry streets, Mellinger said. Before the person of interest was found, Chesterfield Police Department said it had identified a suspect, a male, and officers were looking for a white car.

Harman and the other victim were initially taken by ambulance to Anderson-area hospitals, police said.

About 25 miles northeast of Indianapolis, Chesterfield is a town of about 2,500 in Madison County.
