OKEMOS, MICHIGAN (Inside INdiana Business) — The Delta Dental Foundation has announced the recipients of the COVID-19 Dental Equipment Fund. The foundation awarded a total of $440,000 to 43 safety-net dental clinics in Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana.

DDF Executive Director Holly Seabury says the number of applications the foundation received highlighted the needs of the clinics.

“Many of these organizations have been operating at reduced capacity, and we’re grateful the DDF’s resources can help improve access to care.”

Safety-net dental clinics serve those who are uninsured, underinsured or covered by Medicaid. Seabury says the funding is designed to help these clinics purchase PPE, retrofit their practices to control aerosols and update sterilization equipment.

The foundation says grants were awarded to federally qualified health centers, community health departments, school-based dental centers, volunteer clinics, and other safety-net dental clinics based on need and the populations they serve.
