INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Enjoy one more warm day before cooler temperatures arrive Tuesday.
Tonight: Skies will remain partly cloudy tonight as temperatures fall to the low 50s overnight.


Monday: Enjoy another beautiful day under partly sunny skies with temperatures warming to the upper 70s. Winds will pick up Monday afternoon becoming breezy.

Monday night: Clouds, winds, and rain chances will increase overnight.

Tuesday: A few spotty showers are possible early Tuesday however the best chance of rain will arrive Tuesday afternoon. Numerous showers and a few storms are likely Tuesday afternoon. Expect a breezy, wet, and slightly cooler conditions Tuesday with highs in the mid to upper 60s to low 70s.

8-day forecast: The active weather pattern continues into Wednesday. Cooler conditions will settle in midweek expect highs in the upper 50s to low 60s. Prepare for colder nights as temperatures once again fall to the 30s Wednesday night. Enjoy a dry end to the week rain chances will return Saturday.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — No big changes in our weather pattern the rest of the weekend, but there is a big warming trend coming next week.
We are talking temperatures in the 50s midweek.
Saturday night: Flurries ending and skies clearing. Very cold low of 13 by Sunday morning.
Sunday: Becoming cloudy again with snow flurries possible. No significant accumulation expected but could be some slick spots. High only 25.
Monday: Some sunshine will return. After another cold morning, about 12, it warms up a little to 32 Monday afternoon.
The melting around the edge of Morse Reservoir is done for now. Cold temperatures all weekend and the flags tell us there is a stiff wind to add an extra chill.

Snow flurries wil; move out and skies will clear to let temperatures drop to very cold readings by Sunday morning.

Clouds with possible flurries will move back into the area Sunday. No significant accumulation is expected, but there could be some scattered slick spots again.

Because of the clouds and flurries, it will stay cold Sunday. These high temperatures are about 15 degrees colder than average for Feb. 13.

FutureCast indicates a patch of light snow showers and flurries moving into Indiana in early Sunday afternoon. This patch of snow will move through rapidly and end by late afternoon.

8 Day Outlook: Much warmer Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Highs in the 40s and 50s. There is a chance for rain showers Wednesday afternoon into Thursday morning. Then a wintry mix is possible Thursday afternoon. Temperatures about average into next weekend. Lows in the 20s highs in the 40s.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The bright and powerful sunshine Saturday really helped out with some melting of snow and ice. Even though the afternoon air temperature was only 17, the road pavement surface temperature was 39. Therefore, lots of snow and ice turned to water at least temporarily. But, watch out for refreezing as temperatures drop Saturday night.
Saturday night: Clear and very cold but at least not too windy. Low of 10.
Sunday: Mostly sunny. It will be a bit windier but the southwest wind will help us warm up. High 34 Sunday afternoon.
Monday: A minor weather system will move through. We will see cloudy skies and a few snow showers. No significant accumulation is expected. High will be 28.
Although the day started very cold at only 2 degrees, it warmed up enough so there were several hearty skaters on the outdoor ice rink Saturday in Carmel.

While the ice was good for skating, it was nice to see some of the snow and ice melt Saturday afternoon. The melting occurred even though the temperature was in the teens. But, the sunshine warmed up the roadways to above-freezing for several hours. Watch our for the melted ice and snow to refreeze Saturday night and Sunday morning.

Sunday morning we will see clear skies and bitter cold temperatures again. At least it will not be too windy.

Since the sun is now coming up at 7:48 a.m., there will again be several hours of sunny skies resulting in melting snow and ice Sunday.

The forecast is for sunny skies again Sunday.

Most of central Indiana should see Sunday afternoon high temperatures above freezing.

FutureCast indicates a minor weather system moving through Indiana on Monday. Cloudy skies and a few snow showers are possible. Less than one-quarter inch, if any, snow accumulation.

8 Day Outlook: After a cold Tuesday, we should see a return to more seasonable temperatures. Lows in the 20s. Highs in the 30s. Our next chance for snow is possible on Thursday. At this time, the system does not look like a significant snow maker.

Just 3 tenths of an inch of snow and then the sun came out Saturday. However we are left with a cold day of wind chills in the teens. The week ahead looks like the typical January temperatures are here to stay. Also, we will throw in a couple chances for light snow in the next several days. Nothing big though.
Tonight – Clear and quite cold. Down to 16 early Sunday morning.
Sunday – Some sunshine but temperatures are only a few degrees warmer. High 33 Sunday afternoon.
Monday – Becoming cloudy with some snow showers possible. Still cold with a high of only 32.
Tuesday – Back to sunshine and slightly warmer temperatures. 23 Tuesday morning and 40 in the afternoon.
While there have been several snow storms this winter all around Indiana, they have all bypassed Indianapolis. I know this separates the people who are happy not to have to deal with snow and those that would appreciate some winter scenery and snow to play in.

The latest snow storm dumped 14.5 inches in Des Moines, Iowa and 3-4 inches of snow in the St.Louis area in the pat 24 hours.

Over the next 2 days, the current storm will cause real travel problems to our south and east. 5-10 inches in Nashville, TN, 8-12 inches in Pittsburgh and 9-17 inches in Buffalo, NY. Even Atlanta, GA may see more than 1 inch.

Tonight the green rain area showing up on StromTracker will move north and run into much colder air. that is why the forecast include significant snow amounts.

About 1 inch of snow is possible as close as Cincinnati. Be careful if you are headed in that direction Sunday.

As the main pat of the storm heads northeast on Monday, we may see some intermittent snow showers. No significant accumulation or travel problems are expected.

A cold night ahead. By Sunday morning expect actual temperatures in the mid teens with wind chills in the single digits.

Some sunshine comes our way Sunday to warm temperatures up slightly.

8 Day Outlook – Another chance for snow showers on Wednesday. Then sunny but still cold the rest of the week. Morning temperatures in the teens and highs only in the 20s.

The end to our recent mild and rainy weather will be coming to an abrupt end tonight. Cold winter-like temperatures and even some snow showers or snow flurries are possible late tonight and early Sunday. There could be some slick spots on roads and sidewalks so be careful if you are headed out Sunday morning.
Sunday – Snow showers or snow flurries possible in the morning. Then drying out but staying cold. 27 Sunday morning and only 31 for a high Sunday afternoon. And with a brisk northwest wind it will feel like the 20s all day.
Monday – Sunshine returns but temperatures stay very cold. A low of 14 Monday morning and a high of only 32.
Tuesday – Mostly sunny and not quite as cold. 23 Tuesday morning and high 50 Tuesday afternoon.
Heavier rain came through central Indiana earlier Saturday. By evening, the rain was less intense and moving to the east.

After all day rain on Saturday, it amounted to about 1/2 to 3/4 inch in central Indiana and more than 1 inch in southern Indiana.

Now that the rain will be moving out tonight, colder air will be moving in. Many areas down to the upper 20s by early Sunday morning.


The significant snow stays to our north as the weather system moves out Sunday. However, we may see some light snow showers or snow flurries Sunday morning.

Cloudy skies and a brisk northwest wind will keep the temperature from rising above the low 30s in central Indiana on Sunday.

With those early morning temperatures below freezing and some light snow showers, there could be some slick spots on roads and sidewalks on Sunday. Wind chill temperatures in the low 20s all day.

8 Day Outlook – Thursday a chance for light snow as anther cold front moves through. That leads to the coldest weather so far this winter. Lows of around 10 Friday and Saturday.

Not quite a record high temperature for us this Christmas Day. The temperature reached 63 early this morning so the record 64 set in 1893 stands as the warmest Christmas Day in Indianapolis weather history. The rest of the weekend and into the week it will remain spring-like however. That includes mild temperatures and a few periods of showers in the next several days.
Tonight – Dry weather with temperatures falling through the 40s down to 37 by Sunday morning.
Sunday – Dry weather through the day. Afternoon high near 50. Partly cloudy skies to start. Then clouds increase later in the day in advance of some rain in the evening.
Monday – Cloudy with rain showers. Still very mild for late December. High near 62 Monday afternoon.
We came within one degree of tying the record for warmest Christmas. Out 63 today goes in the books as the second warmerst – along with some other years.

The cold front that brought us the rain earlier Saturday will be bringing in cooler air tonight. However, these lows in the 30s are still 10-15 degrees above average for late December.

Sunday should be dry during the day. Again, cooler, but still above average temperatures.


By Sunday evening, the next weather system will be spreading some rain from Illinois into Indiana. Although not continuous, there will chances for showers for a couple days.

8 Day Outlook – More showers in the forecast for Tuesday and then rain ends
Wednesday afternoon. Partly cloudy, dry and cooler to end the year Thursday and Friday. Another round of showers with cool temperatures in the 40s to start 2022 next weekend.

After a rather rainy period, we are headed into a dry weather pattern. There has been rain at the Indy airport for each of the past 4 days. It now appears we will have 4 or 5 days of dry weather with the next chance for rain on Christmas Eve.

Monday – More sunshine. Cold in the morning mid 20s but a little warmer by afternoon. High 44.
More than a half inch of rain during the past 24 hours in central Indiana. A bit more to the south and a bit less to the north.

Now that the rain has moved out cold air is moving in. Down to mid 20s for most of central Indiana by Sunday morning.

Sunday starts cloudy but we should see some sun later in the day. However, temperatures stay below average for December 19.


High pressure Sunday afternoon starts to break up the clouds and leads to sunny skies again Monday.

More sunshine and less windy conditions Monday make for a pleasant winter day Monday.

8 Day Outlook – Mostly sunny and dry weather continues through Thursday. Temperatures about average in the upper 20s in the morning and low 40s in the afternoon. The preliminary outlook for the Christmas holiday includes upper 40s and a chance for rain on Friday Christmas Eve and partly cloudy and dry weather on Saturday Christmas Day.

A weak weather system is passing through Indiana Saturday. Some scattered light rain showers have been moving through north and central Indiana. Following this weather system, temperatures will stay chilly, but it will be dry the rest of the holiday weekend.

By 6:30 PM, the Light rain showers that were moving through central and northern Indiana this afternoon were headed onto Ohio.

With clearing skies Saturday night, we are in for another chilly night with lows in the upper 20s to near 30.

We will see some sunshine Sunday, but the northwest winds behind the cold front will keep our weather chilly.

Highs around 40 Sunday afternoon are 6 or 7 degrees below average for late November.

If you are headed to the Colts game Sunday, break out the winter gear as temperatures will be in the 30s. Mr. Irsay says the roof and window will be closed, so should be nice and comfy inside for the game.

8 Day Outlook – Mostly dry weather for the week ahead. Gradual warning trend through the week. We reach the 50s starting Thursday. Out next chance for precipitation could be some rain showers next weekend.

A weather system that moved through Indiana today just brought some clouds for the first part of the day. Then a gradual clearing helped salvage a pretty nice mid-November Saturday. We reverse the trend tonight. First clouds move back in and then showers by early Sunday morning. After the Sunday showers, much colder air moves in for a couple days.

It turned into a fairly nice day on Saturday considering we started the day with some light rain in western Indiana a overcast clouds through the early afternoon.

After the rain stops in the afternoon, we may hit 50 once again.
