They’re just a couple of fools ready to entertain you!

Cynthia Collins, co-founder and assistant artistic director of Actors Theatre of Indiana, joined us Tuesday on “Life.Style.Live!” along with John Vessels and Darrin Murrell of “JUST A COUPLE OF FOOLS: A Vaudeville Cabaret!” and Brent Marty on keyboard.

They shared everything you need to know about this upcoming show and gave us a preview of what you can expect as they performed, “How Ya Gonna Keep ‘Em Down on the Farm.”

Show Description:

A Fast, Funny & Ridiculous Laugh Riot Celebrating the History of Comedy with Songs, Jokes & Sketches from the Golden Age of Entertainment.

Murrell & Vessels are joined by pianist Brent Marty for an evening of music and comedy paying tribute to the Vaudeville Stars of the 1920’s.

The trio of funnymen, who recently starred in ATI’s hit production of “The Big Bang,” are veterans of musical theater and comedy stages locally, regionally, and nationally.

This rapid-fire, nostalgic performance combines slapstick humor, outrageous physical comedy, hilarious novelty songs and old-time favorites. The show features classic comedy routines from Abbott & Costello, Hope & Crosby, Laurel & Hardy and The Marx Brothers as well as over twenty songs including “Ain’t She Sweet,” “Hello My Baby,” “Toot, Toot Tootsie,” and “By the Light of the Silvery Moon.”

Show Description:

THE EXTRAORDINARY DREAMS OF ORDINARY PEOPLE.

From the book by Studs Terkel | Adapted by Steph

This examination of 26 people from all walks of life proves that it’s more than just a job for the average working American. Based on Studs Terkel’s best-selling book of interviews with American workers, Working paints a vivid portrait of the men and women that the world so often takes for granted: the schoolteacher, the phone operator, the waitress, the millworker, the mason and the housewife, just to name a few. Nominated for six Tony Awards, this classic has been updated for a modern age, featuring new songs by Tony Award-winning Lin-Manuel Miranda, as well as favorites by Stephen Schwartz, Craig Carnelia and James Taylor.

This is one history lesson you’ll never forget!

“The Big Bang” the Musical hits the stage on January 28 and runs through February 20 at the Studio Theater.

Michael Blatt, director of “The Big Bang,” and Brent Marty, director and actor for “The Big Bang,” joined us today to share what the audience can expect, how this show came about and more.

Synopsis:

In the living room of an elegant Park Avenue apartment in New York City, Jed and Boyd, along with their pal Albert on the piano, stage a backers’ audition for an 83.5 million-dollar, twelve-hour long musical depicting the history of the world from creation to the present. Eighteen sidesplitting numbers portraying Adam and Eve, Attila the Hun, the building of the pyramids, Julius Caesar and Columbus, among others, give potential investors a taste of the impending extravaganza. In the process, the opulent Park Avenue apartment “borrowed” for the occasion is trashed as the two snatch its furnishings to create makeshift costumes while singing and clowning their way through inventive recreations of the past.

The show is rated PG-13.

You’ve been hearing all about it, and now it’s finally here! The Actor’s Theatre of Indiana’s production of “Lombardi” premiers tonight at the Studio Theater.

Don Ferrell, co-founder and artistic director of the Actors Theater of Indiana, and Cynthia Collins, co-founder of the Actors Theater of Indiana, joined us today to talk about “Lombardi” and the other shows that have coming up.

“Lombardi”

Wednesday, November 17 – Sunday, November 21

This Tony Nominated Broadway play follows Coach Vince Lombardi of the Green Bay Packers through a week in the 1965 NFL season as he attempts to lead his team to the championship. Although football’s Super Bowl trophy is named for him, few know the real story of Lombardi the man, his inspirations, his passions and ability to drive people to achieve what they never thought possible. Sport produces great human drama and there is no greater sports icon to bring to theatrical life than Hall of Fame coach Vince Lombardi. “Winning isn’t everything, but the will to win is everything.”

The Holiday Cabaret at Feinstein’s

Wednesday, December 15, 2021
