Are you a last-minute person? The clock is ticking for Indiana residents who haven’t completed voter registration yet.

The deadline to register to vote in the May 8 primary election is Monday, April 9 at 11:59 p.m. 

Registration can be done online, in person or by mail. You need to provide verified information including your Indiana driver’s license or identification card number. 

To register online: 

• Visit http://indianavoters.com or https://indianavoters.in.gov/ OR

• Text “Indiana” (without quotations marks) to 2VOTE (28683). You’ll receive a link to a page where voter registration can be completed using a compatible mobile device.

To register in person or by mail: 

• Visit your local Indiana BMV license branch OR

• Fill out the Indiana Voter Registration Application (Form VRG-7) or County Voter Registration Application (Form VRG-11). Both forms can be found on the Indiana Election Division website. Mail or bring the completed form to your county voter registration office or the Indiana Election Division. 

Indiana residents are eligible to vote if the following requirements are met: 

• United States citizen

• At least 18 years old on or before the election date

• Resident of voting precinct for at least 30 days prior to election 

• Not currently incarcerated for a felony conviction (voting rights are restored upon prison release; re-registration is required)

Eligible voters will receive a “voter registration acknowledgement card” by mail. Contact the county voter registration office if you don’t receive your card within 30 days of completing the registration process.
