Summer is here! After a year in sweatpants and casual clothes, its finally time to get our summer style back in full swing! Kiarra Logan, stylist, joined us to day with some style inspiration for two-piece sets. Here’s more from her:
I know it can seem overwhelming, and there will be times when you have to get ready last minute. So how do you get ready last minute and still look stylish without stressing? Easy, a two piece set!
Two piece sets are a must have in every closet because they don’t require much thought! You can just put them on and go. Easy! From skirts, to shorts, to pants, there is a two piece set waiting for you and your next event.
My clients have been in them non-stop this Spring and Summer, and the trend doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon.
Here are some of my favorite styles:
Short Set:

This short set was worn on two of my favorite social media stars. First, Digital Creator Maria Shelton styled it open with a crossbody for a cool “on-the-go” mom look!
My next client is Mom Coach, Tierra Haynes and she styled it with a cute knot in the front and sneakers. This set is from ASOS and was featured on one of my style guides.

It also comes in Pink and I think both of these could be dressed up with heels.
Pant Sets:
I absolutely love stylish Pant-Sets! Especially in Satin. My client Karen wore this amazing Zara two piece set to a chic Brunch event.

The Satin look is one that you can easily transition from day to night. Check out this all black satin 3 piece suit that I wore to a formal wedding. It was so chic and stress free.
Linen pants set are also a great way to do the trend this summer, Maria looks amazing in this 3 piece coordinating set from ASOS!

This summer is all about bold and fun suit colors for the days we need a “bossy business vibe”. Here is Tierra again styled in a neon green suit that I sourced for her from Italy. I also got the same suit for myself in Pink!
Skirt Set:

Check out my client Liz all the way in Spain in her stylish 3 piece skirt set. I love the skirt sets so much because summer time is definitely about the legs!
Travel Sets:

I love to travel in sets because they are again, easy and comfortable! April styled this Emmy Lennon sweatsuit with a jean jacket and heels, but of course for travel sneakers would be the way to go!

Good jeans are hard to find. Whether you’re tall, short, thin, curvy, or somewhere in between, most women can agree that shopping for new jeans is a task. Although the task is hard and we get defeated, there is a perfect pair out there for everyone.
Kiarra Logan, fashion stylist, Kiarra Looks shows us 5 women who all have different body types, but share the common dislike in shopping for jeans. After she talked through their “denim struggles” she was able to successfully help them find a pair that they loved for their body. Here’s more:
Curvy Jeans

Ashlee is a mom of 3, who struggled to find good jeans after kids. We decided to try out TopShop jeans because they are a brand who, in most of their denim allow customers to pick a waist size and length size. She also liked TopShop because they had stylish options and felt like “real denim” as opposed to being overly stretchy. They still fit her curves and gave her the “cool mom” vibe she was looking for.
Tall Jeans

I loved talking with Michelle because she explained how even though she is “thin” and seemingly would have it easy finding jeans, she does not. We went to American Eagle for her jeans because they had longer lengths, lots of options, and a great price point. One of the things we discussed was seeking out a style other than skinny jeans because that tends to get repetitive. We were able to find a relaxed fit “boyfriend” style jean that was comfortable and stylish, but most importantly fit her longer legs.
Tall & Curvy Jeans

When I reached out to Mia for this shoot, she told me she has a ton of issues buying jeans. Even with owning her own online clothing store (shopmiak.com), she still said that it is hard to find jeans that fit her body. Mia is taller and curvy, so she struggles to find jeans that are long enough and also fit her waist. We decided to try a pair of Levis, and with alterations at the waistline they fit great. She also likes to cuff her jeans so they look intentionally shorter, a good trick for taller girls.
Maternity Jeans

Mom-to-be Ashley, was ready to find some stylish maternity jeans to finish out the rest of her pregnancy. She had tried on a few jeans that came all the way over the belly and did not like the feel. I searched on Asos and discovered they have a great selection of Maternity jeans. We opted for a pair with a comfort band that doesn’t come all the way up, but also doesn’t sit tight below the belly. Even with her longer legs, the cool raw edge hem gave that intentionally short look again.

Lastly, was Brianna, and her main concern was comfort, and jeans that are able to move with her because sometimes her weight fluctuates. We were able to find her perfect pair from Zara. The jeans were high rise, and had the perfect amount of stretch to move with her, and allow for a little extra room if needed.
Quick Tips for Jeans:
- Try to find jeans that have a waist and length selection
- If the waist does not fit perfectly, opt for alterations. Waist alterations typically run 15-30 dollars in price, but allow for a nice fit and eliminate the need for a belt
- If you’re taller and jeans are short, cuff them or cut them to make the short look appear more stylish and intentional
- Try to seek out jeans other than “skinny”, there are so many different styles out now that fit different body types well. Flare, boyfriend, mom-jeans, are all good options to try
- Dont give up. Jean shopping can be exhausting, but it truly takes trying 3-5 pairs before you can find the “IT” pair

All White for the Summer Shower:

A chic all white look is always a good idea. If you’re headed to a baby shower, and need some shopping tips, lets first start in your own closet. The classic white button up is a shirt that most of us have, and even more have it in a few variations. To make your button up look “less business” and “more casual”, try loosely cuffing the sleeves to your elbow and tying a knot in the front. Pair the shirt, with a nice white jean or trouser. If you can try a flare or wide leg. I am wearing Derek Lam pants paired with an H&M button up. For shoes, I recommend a simple strap white sandal to complete the look. Opt for gold accessories or feel inspired to mix up your metals. Remember for these type of events we want to leave the bigger bags at home and grab the smaller bags or clutches.
Brunch Style:

One of my favorite things to do is go to brunch. Brunch is always an experience, and certainly calls for a great outfit. One of my favorite brunch styles is skirts with sneakers. You can take your night time mini skirt (lets be honest, its been sitting in the closet for a while), and make it more daytime by pairing it with cool sneakers. It’s important to make sure you have a pair of stylish sneakers that can be dressed up. These are different than your walking or workout sneakers. If you’re looking to invest in a stylish pair try Cargo Street Wear located in Fountain Square or Foot Locker. I opted for a simple white t-shirt, which is also a closet staple.
Backyard BBQ:

By now, you may be ready to be social in the open air and attend a barbecue. Maintaining distance and wearing your mask are the most important BBQ tips, but a good outfit adds a spark to the day! For the Barbecue pull out your favorite band, college, or graphic Tee. I love graphic tees because they usually tell a story or remind us of something we love. Pair the tee with a fair of Levi denim shorts and stylish sunglasses. The thing I love most about this outfit is that it gives you a chance to shop sustainably. I typically find most of my graphic tees and shorts from Vintage shops. Some vintage shops I love on Instagram @limevintage , @issapopup, @washingtonave, @rekreatedthreads, and @zodiac.vintage.
Saturday Shopping Day:

As stores reopen and we begin to venture out, we can’t forget our mask. I found this stylish mask at Cargo Street Wear and love that it makes me still feel stylish while wearing it. When I shop, I like easy and comfortable, which is why I chose this denim romper. One piece outfits are always a closet staple because of their “readiness” factor. I paired this denim jumpsuit with my favorite Jordan 1 sneakers by Los Angeles based designer Melody Ehsani. As I mentioned before, its important to have a pair of stylish weekend sneakers that mix comfort and style. For a shopping day, I recommend a small crossbody bag that will also give a fun pop of color.
Beach/Pool Day Look:

If you’re heading to the beach, lake, or pool, lets bring back the white button up, but this time its oversized. Long white tops always make for great beach cover ups. Try to find one in linen or a light weight fabric, such as this one from Nordstrom. Leave open or closed with your swimsuit underneath. This straw hat, purchased at Asos, quickly became one of my favorite summer accessories. If you need one quickly, Target always has a great variety. Pair with a stylish wicker bag or tote to complete your look. I opted for another sustainable vintage gem from Washington Ave. The great thing about Vintage is that you won’t see many others with it, so if you can give it a try! The skirt I am wearing for this segment is a vintage Theory skirt from “A Bomb Muvas Thrift Shop”, so trust me when I say vintage is always a good idea.

Now that we’re able to leave the house a little bit more, you may be looking into planning the perfect summer date night, and it all starts with your outfit. Kiarra Logan, fashion stylist, Kiarra Looks has some style ideas perfect for the occasion. Here’s more from her:
Black and White Monochromatic Look:

Black and white looks are perfect for date night. They are always very chic and can be styled different ways. Try to incorporate a texture such as leather or lace when doing a black and white look. One of my favorite chic summer tanks is by NYC designer Hunter Scotto, and I paired it with a wide leg jean from Zara. Styling a basic white tee is also a great day for date night, especially if paired with a leather skort, skirt, or pants. You can dress up the white tee with a statement earring like the one I’m wearing from Shop Kn0ir.
Satin and Silk Tops:

If you’re looking to dress up your denim this summer, do it with a Satin or Silk top. I love these blouses because they are light, chic, and can be styled different ways. If I have an oversized one I usually tie it in a know right at my waist line. If you don’t have this style in your closet already, start with a local vintage or thrift store. I purchased this green gem from a online thrift store, Lime Vintage, as well as a few printed ones. Whether you are doing solid or print, make sure to pop your blouse with a fun heel. A local indy favorite for vintage is Zodiac Vintage in Fountain Square.
Printed Sets:

Printed Sets are perfect for date night because they require minimal effort. With the top and bottom matching its easy to just throw on and go. Of course you can wear them separately too, and personally I love to belt them as well. My favorite for this summer is this set from Shop Sugar Drip, a South Florida based boutique, and I paired it with a vintage belt from Washington Ave. Again, I am all for sustainable fashion when possible.
Dresses and Sneakers:

Lastly, we have dresses and sneakers. Dresses and sneakers is a date night dream come true! You get the girly/feminine, but the comfort of a sneaker. Now, there is a big difference in the “work out sneaker” and “date night” sneaker. Sneakers that we dress up tend be a little more chic and of course not overly worn in. One of my favorite go-tos for sneakers in Indy is Cargo Street Wear near fountain square. Last week one of my favorite designers Cushine dropped their collaboration with Target and I was able to get this green leopard print dress. I could not believe how lux this was from Target, but if you hurry I’m sure you can still find a few of the pieces locally.
Accessories for date night:

Accessories are definitely key for date night, and really add the extra touch. For bags, the most important style tip is knowing when to leave your big bags at home. Date nights are not for huge bags or totes. Make sure you opt for something small that just holds “the essentials”. Last summer I purchased a vintage straw bag from Vintage Store, Issa Pop Up, and I carried it on almost every night out. Little bags, big statement.
