BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — It may be high time for restaurants to start paying attention to the cannabis crowd.

This Saturday, Carl’s Jr. will become the first major fast-food chain to sell a cannabis-infused burger.

The aptly-named Rocky Mountain High: Cheese Burger Delight (CBD) features two beef patties, pickled jalapenos, pepper jack cheese, waffle fries, and CBD-infused Santa Fe Sauce. The special sauce contains about five milligrams of hemp-derived CBD extract.

The chain’s new menu item will be tested at its Denver locations for one day only, April 20: the unoffiical holiday for cannabis-oriented celebrations.

Carl’s Jr. and its sister brand Hardee’s have 3,800 locations in 44 states.

The recent US farm bill legalized hemp, defined as cannabis with less than .3% THC. However, the FDA hasn’t yet approved it for use in food and beverages.

PARIS (WIAT) — A tourist who photographed what appears to be a sweet father-daughter moment at the Notre Dame in Paris is hoping someone will recognize the pair.

Brooke Windsor snapped the candid shot an hour before the 800-year-old cathedral went up in flames Monday evening.

Regretting that she didn’t share the photo with the man, Windsor took to Twitter, asking users to work their “magic” and “help him find this.”

As of Tuesday morning, Windsor’s post has already received nearly 340,000 combined likes and retweets.

According to Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo, firefighters managed to save key relics like the Crown of Thorns. A French official said the fire was contained before it consumed the entire cathedral.

The 12th century church had been undergoing renovations to strengthen its crumbling structure. Investigators are working to determine whether the ongoing construction caused the catastrophic blaze.
