Emerging artists’ work on display in new Fishers exhibit

FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) – Emerging artists within Fishers Arts Council are displaying their skills at a new exhibit in the city hall.

There are up to 60 pieces of artwork on display from paintings, stone cutting into jewelry, pottery to crochet.

The artwork is either done by someone who is a new artist, displaying their work to the public for the first time or is new to the Fishers’ arts scene.

Fishers Arts Council is a nonprofit organization that has been around for more than 10 years.

Executive director Les Reinhardt told News 8 you’re never too young or too old to make art and there’s not one thing that truly defines it.

“I feel for so many of us it’s incredibly healthy to find some way to creatively express ourselves,” Reinhardt said. “Whether it’s working with clay, or painting on a canvass, or even sticking your hands in the dirt and just working in a garden, any form of creative expression is healthy for the body, it’s healthy for the mind and it’s so important for everyone to do.”

The exhibit is open weekdays, excluding holidays, from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. through Dec. 29.

There’s a new exhibit every month following a reception in Fishers City Hall.

A solo art exhibit by Taylor Walker from Fishers will be on display in January 2022.
