Charges filed in shots fired investigation
LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Lafayette police have charged a 23-year-old man in a shots fired incident that sent one to the hospital.
Deandre Hines, of Lafayette, faces several charges including criminal recklessness and battery by means of a deadly weapon. Hines also goes by the street name “Ghost.”
The incident happened on May 9 at North and 11th Streets in Lafayette. One man was grazed in the leg by a bullet. He was treated at the hospital, although the wound did not require stitches.
Another bullet shattered the window of a car.
Prosecutors said several people were present at the time, including two children under the age of 18.
Hines is also charged with carrying a handgun without a license and criminal mischief.
