INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A man accused of stealing a camper has been caught by a police dog after a chase on the city’s northeast side.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department says a K-9 caught and bit the suspect.

Officers say they chased the suspect after noticing a stolen camper was being pulled by an SUV on 65th Street just before 4:30 a.m.

The chase ended on 56th Street near Cathedral High School. The suspect then bailed out of the SUV.

Officers set up a perimeter and the K-9 caught the suspect after he swam across Fall Creek.

An ambulance was called and the suspect was hospitalized following the K-9 bite.

His name has not been released.
