Marketing tech company bringing 200+ jobs to Indy

INDIANAPOLIS (Inside INdiana Business) — A New York-based tech company is planning to set up shop in central Indiana. Wunderkind Corp., which acquired Indianapolis-based SmarterHQ in November, says it will invest more than $3 million to co-locate with SmarterHQ on the north side of Indy and create up to 224 jobs by the end of 2025.

Wunderkind has developed a multichannel marketing platform for e-commerce retailers, publishers and travel companies, according to its website. The company says the expansion to Indy will help accelerate its ability to ship new products for enterprise retailers by growing its engineering and customer success teams.

“The Wunderkind team and our SmarterHQ friends celebrate joining the Indiana tech community with an acquisition that we are confident will accelerate our joint impact in the market and in local job creation,” Ryan Urban, chief executive officer of Wunderkind, said in a news release. “Marketing tech companies have thrived in Indianapolis, yielding billions in exits, and with our sustained growth we’re confident Wunderkind will be able to add to the history of success in Indy.”

Wunderkind currently employs 440 people across its New York, Austin, London and now Indianapolis offices. The company says it will add an average of 40 jobs per year in Indy and is currently hiring for implementation, client engineering and customer success positions.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. says it will offer Wunderkind of to $3.4 million in conditional tax credits, pending approval by the IEDC board of directors. The company will not be eligible to claim the incentives until Hoosier workers are hired for the new jobs.
