Richmond man killed, 2 others injured in crash in Wayne County
CAMBRIDGE CITY, Ind. (WISH) — A 22-year-old Richmond man died Friday morning after a two-vehicle crash in Cambridge City, Indiana State Police said.
Nathan Bennett, 22, of Richmond, was driving a 2019 Honda CRV around 11 a.m. southbound on State Road 1 when for an unknown reason he crossed the center line and struck a box truck head-on. Bennett was pronounced dead at the scene.
Rachel Morrell, 32, of Milton, was a passenger in Bennett’s vehicle. She was flown to an Indianapolis hospital with unknown injuries.
Indiana State Police say Carl Sawicki, 59, of Kitchener, Ontario, was driving the box truck. He was taken to Reid Health Hospital in Richmond for non-life-threatening injuries.
SR 1 was closed for over two hours while investigators reconstructed the scene. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
