Plans to upgrade Broad Ripple Park leaves some wanting more

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Broad Ripple Park is a popular park. Each year, it offers over 500 programs. There are waiting lists for many activities at the 62-acre park.

Back in March, Indy Parks and Recreation reached out to residents near the park to get their feedback on possible improvements.

Indy Parks, with the help of residents, developed a master plan for the grounds. It would include a $70 million price tag that would include multiple phases. So far, no funds have been raised.

The plan calls for a larger family center, athletic fields, an indoor swimming pool and a possible splash pad just to name a few items.

The plan does not call for an outdoor pool. Some have expressed frustration that an outdoor pool is not in the master plan.

The master plan is scheduled to be presented to the Metropolitan Development Commission. According to its online schedule, that meeting will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday on the second floor of the Indianapolis City-County Building inside the public assembly room.
