Purdue to unveil its 2nd licensed beer

LAFAYETTE Ind, – Purdue University is rolling out its second licensed beer just in time for homecoming.

Boiler Black is an American black ale similar to a porter style. The beer will be served in a special can to celebrate the school’s 150th anniversary.

Boiler Black will also be part of the department of food science’s new fermentation curriculum.

“We piloted this beer on the new system over there at the university. It will be just another step in the direction of educating students in fermentation science. Not only in beer, but also in wine, food and cheese” said Chris Johnson, owner of People’s Brewing Co.

Purdue released its first licensed beer, Boiler Gold, in August 2017.

Both beers will be available from Chicago to Indianapolis in the next month.
