INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The suspect in a fatal shooting outside a September wake for a murder victim has been caught, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said Monday.

Officers were called to Persian Temple No. 46, 1802 E. 23rd St., around 4:50 p.m. Sept. 30 on a report of shots fired. They found Shurill with an multiple gunshot wounds as he sat in the driver’s seat of a car that had crashed into another car, IMPD said. Police said Shurill was shot during a wake for 40-year-old Keith Williams, who was found shot several times about 5 p.m. Sept. 20 in his home in the 1000 block of Grant Avenue.

“Buckley used various sophisticated techniques to avoid apprehension including fake ID’s, changing his appearance and changing phones,” said an IMPD news release issued Monday. “He had traveled from Indianapolis to various states including California, Missouri, Kentucky and New Orleans before returning to Indianapolis. He was arrested with over a pound of marijuana and a firearm in his possession.”
