Fire damages Chili’s Grill & Bar in Greensburg

GREENSBURG, Ind. (WISH) – A Friday afternoon fire started in mulch damaged the Chili’s Grill & Bar off Interstate 74, a fire official said.

The restaurant is closed pending electrical work and an inspection by health officials, said Randy Hoeing, assistant chief of Greensburg Fire Department.

Authorities were called shortly before 2:40 p.m. to the restaurant southwest of the I-74 interchange for State Road 3.

Fire officials said they believe the fire began in mulch used as landscaping and spread into the rear wall and a wall near the front entrance. Strong winds drove the fire, Hoeing said.

Damage to be the building could be from $5,000 to $10,000, he said.

Greensburg is about 30 miles southeast of Indianapolis.

Attempts to call the restaurant resulted in a busy signal.
