‘Gr8 Comeback’: Papa Bears Chicken

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Kelvin Brasher is the one-man show behind Papa Bears Chicken.

He says his kitchen has gained some bragging rights in Indianapolis over the last five years.

“We’re the best in the city,” he said. “A lot of hard work. A lot of time.”

Brasher remembers the days when he was cooking outside of the building that bears the Papa Bears Chicken name. Since then, the community has helped him keep the business thriving.

Word has gotten around to the point where he has nearly 11,000 followers on social media. Brasher says people have traveled far and wide to get his food. However, in honor of his restaurant’s fifth anniversary, on April 1, he’s got something special planned for the city he calls home.

“We’re giving free chicken out all day for the entire city until supplies are gone,” he said. “The city’s been great to us so it’s only right to give back to the community.”
