Man tased, arrested after chase on south side
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A has been arrested following a car chase on the city’s south side, according to the Southport Police Department.
A little after 4 a.m., officers spotted an SUV with a car license plate near Stop 12 and Madison Avenue and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.
Instead of complying with the officers, the SUV proceeded to accelerate and led officers on a short chase that lasted approximately five miles into the southern part of Indianapolis.
Police said the male suspect exited the vehicle in a neighborhood just southeast of East Street and Sumner Avenue and tried to run from officers.
A Southport Police officer used a taser on the suspect who was soon after taken into custody.
Paramedics were called to the scene to treat the suspect after he was tased. He was then taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
Officers said the suspect did have two active warrants for his arrest.
