1 killed in single-vehicle crash near Waymansville

COLUMBUS, Ind. (WISH) — A 22-year-old man from Freetown died Saturday after a single-vehicle crash near Waymansville, the Bartholomew County Coroner’s Office said.

The crash happened around 3:45 p.m. on County Road 675 West, south of Seymour Road near Waymansville. The unincorporated community is about 40 miles south of Indianapolis in southwestern Bartholomew County.

The coroner’s office identified the victim as Terry Von Anderson III. He died at the scene.

The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department said Monday that Von Anderson crashed his 2005 Ford Mustang in a small creek bed. A preliminary investigation showed Anderson was driving north on County Road 675W when he met a southbound vehicle at a hill crest. The right side of Anderson’s car dropped off the east edge of the road. Police said they believe Anderson overcorrected and his vehicle slid off the road and overturned onto its passenger side.

Anderson was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
